Working together to support our communities - how the Inishowen Food Bank came about.
In April 2020, in response to COVID-19, The Exchange Inishowen set up a temporary Food Bank to serve the peninsula together with partner charities and groups in Carndonagh, Moville, Clonmany, Muff and Newtowncuningham. Supported by Inishowen Development Partnership, these local charities collected donations of food and worked with local voluntary groups to distribute parcels to people in need. In the first six months, the Food Bank delivered 447 parcels to 91 households across Inishowen. With continuing need in the community, The Inishowen Food Bank continued throughout the winter months and into 2021 with food parcels available for collection every two weeks from Buncrana, Carndonagh, Moville, Clonmany and Newtowncunningham.

We have been responding to the needs of our community since we opened our doors nearly 10 years ago and we are privileged to be continuing to do so now."
On behalf of The Exchange, Ruth Garvey-Williams said, “We live in a caring and resilient community. With a helping hand, we can ensure families and individuals are able to get through this tough time and get back on their feet again once the crisis passes. Although our community centre has to be closed to the public at the moment, we are still committed to serving Inishowen and we were delighted to offer our premises as the Buncrana centre.”
